Many of my friends love receiving freebies. Of course this is thanks to me for converting them from buyers to freebie lovers. This isn't to say that we no longer shop. We do, and would buy products that we have sampled and love to use for a longer term.

Many companies do not know yet how samples and freebies could easily convert us into long term customers. However, some are cashing in on the popularity of social networks and its viral effect. I think that companies in the consumer industry are only losing out if they do not catch the trend.
