The Singer/Songwriter Awards

I have quite a few friends who aspire to be recording artists. It is not for lack of talent that they are still struggling to make a name for themselves after so many years, since we left school.

I feel bad for them that despite having the raw talent and creativity, they are still doing the pub rounds, which is not totally bad, but their careers could be better.

So I was very happy to inform them of The Singer/Songwriter Awards, the We Are Listening Song Contest that is open for worldwide submission. Well, I understand how they have generally been sidelined just because they are Malaysians but I am confident this international song contest will open doors for them.

Firstly, amateurs and professionals alike can submit their work, and submit as many as possible. Of course to submit original work is not a problem for my friends.

We Are Listening is a London-based artist development group and they do understand how difficult it is for a singer or songwriter to be heard, let alone get that coveted breakthrough. Hence they should be applauded for their efforts in bringing together an exceptional panel of judges for this international song contest, The Singer/Songwreiter Awards.

From the total entries, by the way there's only another 37 days to submit your entries, six of the most gifted artists will be chosen and flown to London, United Kingdom for an exclusive recording session with world renown music producer, Steve Williams, who has produced for Sting, Eric Clapton, Seal and many more!

Accommodation comes in the form of a luxurious weekend stay at myHotel Bloomsbury. Oh, what a prize package!

Apart from that, selected songs will be represented by We Are Listening for global digital distribution, sync licencing administration an radio airwaves promotion.

Some other lucky winners will receive mixing and mastering of an entire album, CD duplication or dedicated US radio campaign.

The best thing is that this contest is open to all genres of music, so get your submissions in and Good Luck!
