I am a cheapo and I am too cheap to commission graphic designers to design for me so what I do is to look for free vectors and beg friends who are graphic designers to make slight changes to suit my blogs and websites.
A particularly awesome selection of free vectors is given away by spoon Graphics. I am very impressed with the work... perhaps they are that good, perhaps it is just because I know nuts about designing that I am easily impressed.
