In my country, parents would send their daughters to take up a skill if they are not that smart enough to cope with academic studies. They could enroll into a trade school instead, or a tailoring course, beautician course or hairstyling course. These are just a handful of more popular courses that girls attend.
However, my sister told me that in America, people purposely enroll into such courses to make a career out of it. She showed me the website of a beauty school and I am impressed with their professionalism.
From what I understand, graduates from this beauty school are recognized throughout the United States. Here, we would call such a school a "fame school" where people fight to get a placement.
Anyway, students in this school provide discount salon services to gain as much experience as possible. Of course, this is always under the guidance of their faculty. I sometimes also go to students for a haircut when I feel brave enough. Hah!
