Many people do not know that I aspired to be a poet. Well, that was a long time ago. My dream died when I realized that there is not much room for the amateur poet and every thing was too commercialized.

And then I became disillusioned when companies were saying that they would like to print my poetry and there is no obligation to buy the book and then I discovered that if I buy, my poetry would be printed and if I do not buy then I don't see my poetry in there anywhere!

Anyway, today I came across a free poetry contest. The website, Poetry Soup, runs a contest every six months so we are right now on the second contest for the year, which ends on 1st November, 2007.

This contest is free to join plus it allows the poet a chance to showcase his work, which is invaluable. So if you aspire to be a well known poet, do grab this chance.
