I read a recent report that smartphone sales (according to Wirefly) leapfrogged an astonishing 70% in the first quarter of 2007 from the third quarter of 2006.
I am not surprised of the popularity of the smartphone. Smartphones are now stylish and have shed their old bulky designs. Now, almost everyone can afford the smartphone as the prices continue to me more affordable to the average Joe.
Because of this, one can see the ordinary guy on the street using the smartphone now where it was only previously used to really geeky people or business people who are always on the move.
I foresee the smartphone will eventually replace all ordinary mobile phones in the market as their prices continue to fall.
