I used to tune in to shortwave radio a lot, and BBC World Service was one of my favorite broadcasters as I like their style of presentation and I also get to pick up the Queen's English.
BBC World Service is also a broadcaster that creates opportunities for people from outside of the United Kingdom to be heard.
BBC World Service regularly runs competitions that are not open to UK residents. One of them is the BBC International Radio Playwriting Competition 2007.
This is the tenth biennial International Playwriting Competition, run in conjunction with the British Council.
There are two first prizes: for the best play by a writer with English as their first language, and for the best play by a writer with English as their second language. These two winners will each receive £2500 sterling and a trip to London to see their play being recorded for broadcast on BBC World Service in the World Drama slot.
If you are an experienced novelist or writer for theatre, film, television, but are new to Radio Drama; if you are a writer with no experience at all writing your first script; or if you're a writer somewhere in between - BBC World Service wants to hear from you.
Eligibility: Worldwide (except residents of the United Kingdom)
Closing date: April 30, 2007.~*~ Good luck everybody ~*~
